Belin McCormick's Labor and Employment Group Obtain Significant Ruling

Belin McCormick’s Labor and Employment Group obtained a significant ruling in favor of employers in Quick v. EMCO Enterprises, et al (Iowa 2010).  Attorneys Jim Swanger and Christopher McDonald represented EMCO Enterprises and Andersen Corporation in a sexual orientation discrimination suit arising under the Des Moines Human Rights Ordinance brought by a former EMCO employee.  The district court granted summary judgment on all counts in favor of EMCO and Andersen, holding that municipalities did not have the authority to create private causes of action relating to employment discrimination.  The decision recently was affirmed on appeal.
