Federal Contractors and Subcontractors are required to use U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services E-Verify System

9-30-2009

Due to recent court rulings, a 2008 executive order requiring all  federal contractors and subcontractors to begin using the U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services E-Verify system went into effect September 8, 2009.  E-Verify is an internet-based system operated by the Department of Homeland Security that allows employers to electronically verify employees’ employment authorization.  The U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services offers guidance on the program, including a supplemental guide published September 8, 2009 at:  http://www.uscis.gov/portal/site/uscis/menuitem.eb1d4c2a3e5b9ac89243c6a7543f6d1a/?vgnextoid=534bbd181e09d110VgnVCM1000004718190aRCRD&vgnextchannel=534bbd181e09d110VgnVCM1000004718190aRCRD
