Erika Bertrand Begins as Belin McCormick, P.C. Associate
Erika Bertrand joined Belin McCormick’s litigation and employment law departments after clerking for Justice Thomas Waterman at the Iowa Supreme Court during the 2016-2017 term.
While in attending Drake Law School, Erica represented low-income clients in Polk County District Court through the Drake Law School Legal Clinic. Erika was a national finalist in two oral advocacy competitions during law school and won a regional “Best Brief” award. At Drake Law School, Erika earned Order of the Coif recognition. She was articles editor for the editorial board of the Drake Law Review. She earned highest honors while earning her B.A. from Creighton University.
Erika devotes a substantial portion of her practice to assisting both employers and employees in compliance and litigation matters. She regularly assists clients with drafting and editing employee handbooks, policies, employment agreements, and non-competes. To ensure compliance with Title VII, the FMLA, the ADEA, and the ADAAA, Erika provides counseling on regulatory issues and internal evaluations and investigations. In addition, Erika is prepared to represent clients before the Iowa Civil Rights Commission or in court should the need for litigation arise.
