If one is judged by the company they keep, then real estate attorney Jerry Sharpe is rightly considered a respected expert at his profession. For more than 20 years, Jerry has served on the Title Standards Committee of the Iowa State Bar Association. When Jerry counsels on addressing title issues, he knows the answers because he helped write them.
Serving alongside the most senior and respected real estate lawyers in Iowa has afforded Jerry Sharpe deep relationships with other experienced attorneys. Other real estate lawyers regularly seek Jerry’s guidance. He has authored articles and presented for continuing legal education seminars statewide on various issues related to real estate law. He has been recognized by Chambers and Partners as a Band 1 lawyer; named Real Estate Lawyer of the Year by Best Lawyers; recognized by Super Lawyers; and is AV Peer Rated by Martindale-Hubbell for his real estate practice.
Jerry’s practice has included advising hundreds of clients regarding all aspects of commercial real estate transactions, including acquisition and sales, commercial loans, commercial leases, subdivision platting, and condominium and townhome developments. His clients include developers, lenders, landlords, tenants and other business entities that become involved in real estate transactions in connection with the operation of their businesses. Such clients have provided substantial benefits to economic development in Iowa communities, such as Iowa State University Research Park, which partners with Iowa State University to develop facilities for science and technology related entrepreneurial ventures, and New England Development, a developer of open air retail outlet malls throughout the United States.
Clients cite Jerry’s responsiveness--returning calls and emails within the same business day--and his attention to detail. “My goal is to get the transaction completed rather than keeping something from happening. I want to be cooperative with other counsel and proactive for clients in addressing and solving issues necessary to complete transactions,” says Sharpe.
