Quent enjoys helping his clients effectively navigate their legal and other issues and helping them achieve their business and personal goals. His accounting background and litigation practice experience help him apply an effective multi-disciplinary approach to solving clients’ corporate and business law problems and capitalizing on their merger and acquisition opportunities.
Quent’s practice emphasizes corporate and general business law, and business acquisitions and transactions. He specializes in corporate acquisitions for closely held companies. He has been recognized by Chambers and Partners and by Best Lawyers in America for his corporate practice.
Quent and his wife Inez are originally from Titonka, Iowa, a community in north central Iowa close to the Minnesota border.
After graduating from Iowa State University in 1976, Quent practiced for three years as a certified public accountant on the audit staff for Coopers & Lybrand in the firm’s Minneapolis-St. Paul office. Quent taught undergraduate accounting courses at the University of Michigan during 1980-82 while he attended Michigan Law School.
After graduating from law school in 1982, Quent and Inez moved to West Des Moines and Quent has been with the law firm since that time. Quent has been active in professional, community, school and church organizations and has been involved in Des Moines’ successful neighborhood revitalization programs in his capacity as outside general counsel for the Neighborhood Finance Corporation which he helped organize in 1990.
Quent and Inez have two adult sons. Scott is a Senior Fellow in the Baker Lab, Institute for Protein Design at the University of Washington and lives in Seattle with his spouse Olga Nikolova. Eric is a Regional Information Security Officer with Catholic Health Initiatives and resides in Omaha, Nebraska with his spouse Megan and son, Ryland.
