Belin in the Community: Belin McCormick Volunteers with Sleep in Heavenly Peace to Build Beds for Children in Need

July 22, 2025 | Press Release

On Thursday, July 17, Belin McCormick team members volunteered with Sleep in Heavenly Peace (SHP), a nonprofit dedicated to making sure every child has a bed of their own. SHP serves children who might otherwise sleep on a couch, a futon, an air mattress, or even the floor by providing them with handmade beds constructed by volunteers. The organization’s motto says it all: “No kid sleeps on the floor in our town!”

The national SHP organization estimates that roughly 3% of American children sleep without a proper bed. Every SHP bed delivery includes a brand-new mattress, sheet set, pillow, and a blanket, comforter, or quilt. The nonprofit serves children ages 3 to 17 and has delivered over 286,000 beds across the country.

Belin volunteers participated in every step of the bed-building process—sanding wood, branding headboards, and assembling full bed frames that would soon be delivered to children in need.

“Volunteering at Sleep in Heavenly Peace was a highlight of the Belin summer experience. We were able to help sand, brand, and build beds to be delivered to children in need in the community. It was a meaningful day, and I’m so glad I got to contribute to this cause.” Alyssa Medin, Summer Associate.

“I felt very grateful for the opportunity to try something new that in turn helped the community. The community is blessed to have an organization like Sleep in Heavenly Peace.” Madison Diaz, Summer Associate.

“Working with the Sleep in Heavenly Peace team was an incredible opportunity. It was moving to witness how committed the team was to making sure children have access to such a basic necessity. I was thankful for the chance to contribute to something so meaningful.” Esha Bolar, Paralegal Intern.

“It was an incredibly fulfilling experience to see the difference we can make in someone’s life by just taking a little bit of time to give to others. It is very rewarding to be a part of just some of the ways that Belin is dedicated to giving back to the community that has supported it for so many years.” Keaton Wenz, Summer Associate.

The volunteer day was more than just hands-on work—it was an opportunity to give back in a direct, lasting way. Belin McCormick looks forward to continuing its support of local initiatives like Sleep in Heavenly Peace.
