Remembering Mark McCormick
April 02, 2025 | Press Release
This week the Belin McCormick Law Firm lost a friend, partner and mentor upon the passing of our namesake Mark McCormick.
Mark led a long, varied and rewarding career dedicated to the practice of law. He was the youngest appointee to the Iowa Supreme Court, where he served our state with great distinction from April 1972 to January 1986. Mark started a new chapter in his legal career by joining our firm that same year and remained with our firm until he retired in 2021. Mark was a lawyer’s lawyer. Always the consummate professional, Mark advocated with compassion, humility and skill.
Perhaps even more importantly to those of us who worked with him, Mark was a friend. No matter how busy he was, he was never too busy to take time to mentor younger lawyers or answer any question, no matter how small or large. His encyclopedic knowledge was exceeded only by his willingness to help.
Although we are saddened by our loss and our hearts go out to Mark’s family, our lives were all enriched by our time with Mark.
